This project aims to create archetypes from the interactions between the neighbourhood and its residents, those who live here, those who pass by, and people who organize, activate, and create conflict within this Quarter. As we map these connectors and connections, we reflect on what kinds of playful methods could emerge among people who share a physical landscape, who have made spaces belong to them, commonising public spaces and those who remain segregated by identities, classes, ages or gender. The idea in this to examine how these characters come together, or diverge from each other, essentially the illustrations of people, local ecologies, landscapes of social and cultural life, animal co-habiting and their stories will inspire the card deck and the gamification of this quarter. Finally we imagine to explore whether through playing with these notions, archetypes of the neighbourhood to see if we can break some fixed categories whether this would be the identities and the social architecture of the neighbourhood and bring people together to produce some characteristic publication that is possibly interactive, living, moving around different spaces in the shaping of Nieuw West.ย
To achieve these together we are looking for visual artists, illustrators, designers, card game developers, world builders, rule makers, storytellers, collage makers, and photographers who live and are engaged in the neighbourhood of nieuw west. The goal will be organising gatherings, activities, workshops to enable imaginations and playful encounters for the participants, make drawings, illustrations, collages that are eventually mapping organisational structures, rules, logics or wheels of the game. These gatherings will happen in different locations in the neighbourhood.ย
We are seeking facilitators who will receive โฌ1200 euros fee covering event organisation, workshops, research and facilitation. There will be an additional budget for the material costs. The submission of your ideas, the perspectives proposal you can contribute to this project deadline is 30th august, the project will run from september to december, and cards will be published in january. We would like to organise a big gaming evening with cards and everyone else involved in the project in February as a final presentation. Designed cards will also be printed as postcards, which will be sent to the neighbours as programming communication, love letters, invitations to watching films and eating together.
