June 18 – 15:00 – 18:00
Workshop: The Movement of Voice
Colombian artist Beatriz Sterling (she/her) will be at Lola Lieven, guiding participants on a thoughtful and embodied journey exploring the relationship between body and sound, with the voice serving as a central point of connection.
Through a series of exercises combining movement, listening, and reflective writing, participants will share a space of experimentation and collective inquiry that challenges the primacy of vision as the main source of knowledge and perception.
The workshop aims to cultivate somatic awareness, inviting participants to explore new questions about their bodies and deepen their connection with themselves through attentive listening and embodied practice.
Drawing on tools and methodologies from Butoh, Pauline Oliveros’s Deep Listening, and Meredith Monk’s extended vocal techniques, the workshop unfolds in three stages:
- Voice and Silence
- Deep Listening
- Dancing the Voice
