Shibari is the term generally used to define Japanese rope bondage. Although it has many similarities to Western bondage (the B of BDSM), Shibari is more centered around the communication between partners and creating an entire process, where ropes are the leading player of the scene and not just a tool. It is rooted in eroticism but has evolved to become much more expansive with many different approaches ranging from sΒ£x play to artistic practice. For many years, the culture of rope bondage was hidden in the underground; this workshop is here to give you a point of entry and start your journey with ropes.
This monthly event is dedicated to anyone who would like to learn about Shibari, giving you a safer space to discover whether you want to be tied, tie others, or both! These workshops will give everyone the tools to get started in their practice safely, no matter which role they prefer to take on; switching is also permitted and encouraged.
Tolerance, open-mindedness, and empathy are critical values of this class. As long as you are committed to Shibari, it is a tool to connect different bodies, souls, experiences, and generations from oldest to youngest.
We facilitate cross-cultural and transpersonal spaces. The LGBTQ+ racialized community has priority in ticket sales and the waiting list. Being a neighborhood venue, we stand for our streets and cohabitants on a small scale. Both LGBTQI+ people of color and our neighbors are at the center. We are trained to hold these spaces, and in each class there will be one spaceholding person. We can also provide a 20% discount to our community if they cannot pay the total price of the classes. You can write us for the discount code: aysenur@lolalieven.nl
The first quarterly 2024 classes will be twofold. One complete beginner class offers the first introduction and basic knots, allowing you to enter the Shibari world. The second class is for beginners who have experience tying and an affinity with knots, chest, and leg ties, as well as being attuned to the feelings and emotions in the space.
